2025:
"There’s a lot to explore among the vast and varied monastic buildings of Rievaulx Abbey.

Pick up an audio tour and head out into the ruins to learn the story behind this amazing place. Visit the exhibition to find out how the Rievaulx monks used and transformed the river Rye and its landscape.

Discover even more about monastic life in the must-see museum, packed with artefacts and everyday objects used by the monks. There’s an on-screen presentation about Rievaulx’s story. The ‘Shattered Remains’ display examines Rievaulx’s wholesale destruction after Henry VIII’s suppression of the abbey.

Take a break from exploring and admire the views from the café, or pop into the shop to pick up souvenirs and local products.

Why not park in the nearby chocolate-box town of Helmsley and take a scenic walk from Helmsley Castle to Rievaulx Abbey. Download the walking map here."
