Brief description
"The Art Gallery has a programme of between four and six temporary exhibitions a year, one of which is always drawn from our own Rugby Collection and another is our annual Open Exhibition presenting the best artwork from the area. The other exhibitions present a range of exciting and innovative work by local, national and international artists including solo and group shows and new commissions in a variety of media.
The Museum has two galleries. In one, the Social History Collection is used to tell the story of the town and borough of Rugby over the last two centuries. In the Jack Lucas Archaeology Gallery a collection of Roman artefacts from the nearby site of Tripontium, excavated by Rugby Archaeological Society, is on display. Nearby in St Matthews Street the Rugby Football Museum houses a privately-owned collection of memorabilia and artefacts relating to the game. This collection is on loan to Rugby Borough Council, and is displayed under the care of Rugby Art Gallery and Museum staff."
