Brief description
A man made reservoir which is one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe. The reservoir supplies water to the East Midlands of Great Britain.

Directions
To Access the Normanton South Shore Car Park - Leave the A1 at the Oakham A606 Junction and take the A606 towards Oakham.
Remain on A606 until it splits and take the left hand turn onto Normanton Park Road towards Edith Weston and Rutland Water South Shore.
The entrance to the car park is clearly signposted off this road on the right hand side, with the toilets on the right as you enter the car park.

To Access the Whitwell North Shore Car Park - Leave the A1 at the Oakham A606 Junction and take the A606 towards Oakham. Remain on A606 following the signs for the North Shore. Travel past the turning for the Sykes Lane Visitor Centre and having travelled through the village of Whitwell, take a left turn signposted for the Car Park and follow the lane into the car park and complex.

Remain on A606 following the signs for the North Shore. Having passed through the village of Empingham take a left hand turn onto Sykes Lane signposted for the Visitor Centre.
