Accessibility:

Parking is available at the visitor centre, which is a ten minute walk away from the castle at the bottom of a hill. Toilet facilities are located at the visitor centre, as well as gift shop and picnic areas. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead. The castle is located at the top of the hill with limited hand rails for assistance.

Brief Description:

Peveril Castle was built in 1176 by Henry II and is one of the earliest Norman fortresses in England. It sits high up on a hill overlooking Castleton village in the Peak District. The visitor centre shows the history of the castle throughout the years
