Brief description

Victorian Grade II Listed Theatre owned by Shanklin Theatre and Community Trust.

At the side of the Theatre in Steephill Road can be seen a portion of the original Shanklin Institute, which was destroyed by fire in 1925 before being rebuilt as the current Theatre.  In the foyer you will find an English Heritage listed structure – the Sweetshop, which was formerly the Theatre Box Office. It opens before shows and during show intervals for those hard to resist treats. When visiting the bar, don’t forget to see the adjacent historical Map Room, which was a local command and control centre during WW2 and is decorated with memorabilia from that time. Additional bar seating is available in the Map Room.
