Accessibility:

Good access from public roads and pavements.  Steps down to beach itself at the the SW end but, towards NW end, there is a more direct access from grassed area  but ground uneven and awkward unless able-footed.  Wheelchair access not possible onto the beach but is available to the grassed areas, pushchairs would need to be lifted onto beach.

Brief description:

Beach and grassed recreational area to the east of Southend-on-Sea.  Popular with families and kite surfers.

Directions:

Follow A13 into Shoeburyness. At the very end of the A13 where it meets the B1016, turn SE (left turn) into Campfield Road (it is signposted East Beach).  Continue on Campfield Road to end (it does change into Smith Street just after you pass Hinguar Street and before you reach the end T junction), turn left (NE) into High Street and immediately right (SE) into George Street.  Access to East Beach car park is at the end of George Street, turning left into the car park.

The B1016 running along Southend seafront will take you to the junction with the A13 in Shoeburyness where you turn SE but right coming from that opposite direction into Campfield Road, then follow directions as above.

Transport:

Shoeburyness Station, being the end terminus of the C2C line from London Fenchurch Street to Southend and Shoeburyness, is a 2 minute walk from a pedestrian entrance to the grassed areas of the beach via an entry point immediately opposite the approach road leading to the station main entrance.

Bus numbers 4A, 9 and 14 all stop by East Beach.  Bus 814 stops along Shoeburyness High Street at opposite end of George Street and approx 5 minute walk away.

Amenities:

Children's paddling pool when tide is out.

Toilets - some open for summer season only.

Mobile cafe serving ice creams, drinks, snacks and beach goods can be found at George Street end during summer season only.  Arrival/departure times of the mobile cafe do vary.

Car parking at either end of the beach.  Note currently (July 2019) only blue badges issued by Southend Council have free parking but decision recently made to change this position and expected free for all blue badges by October 2019 but check before arriving.
