A dog crèche is available on site during show days, this facility is open between the hours of 09.00 and 18.00hrs daily.
Over 700 portable toilets are located around the showground and campsites. Our contractors carry out a continuous cleaning operation and work very hard to make sure that the toilets are clean and tidy.
Brief description
2025-
"Following our previous post last Autumn on the future of the Great Dorset Steam Fair, sadly, we have not been able to secure a buyer to take the show forward, since it was put up for sale 12 months ago. Despite discussions with interested parties this past year, the escalation in operating and infrastructure costs remains the underlying issue in making the event financially unfeasible. Unfortunately, this means that the Great Dorset Steam Fair will not be returning in 2025.
GDSF Managing Director Martin Oliver says “it’s a great shame but we have been unable to find a way forward. With costs still increasing and incredibly high, the GDSF would be in excess of £5m to put on next year and remains unviable for us to run it again ourselves. We had hoped someone would be willing to take the GDSF on after being up for sale for over a year but sadly we have been unable to find a committed buyer willing to take the financial risk of staging this enormous event.”
Martin continues “I am very much aware that the GDSF is greatly missed and that this is not the news the tens of thousands of our supporters were hoping for or us as the organisers. We had sincerely hoped that we would be able to offer some positive news but sadly this isn’t to be. Nonetheless, please be assured that should circumstances change in the future we will of course let you know. As always, my sincere thanks go to everyone for your loyal and past support, it is very much appreciated.”"

Whilst on the showground, if you feel unwell or sustain an injury, please visit the Medical Centre which is very well equipped and professionally run. The Medical Centre and is located in the Administration Area. They are onsite and operational continuously throughout the event, on a 24-hour basis. If you are ill or injured they will be able to help in the following ways: • Offer treatment • Give advice on what to do next • Help you to make an appointment to see a Doctor.
Cash point machines are located near the Show Office in the site Administration Area. Cash back can be also obtained at the pay gates or in the Grocery shops.
A mobile phone charging service will be available from any of the Grocery Shops. Please see more information below.
A grocery store will be available in Campsite 1 & 2 with an additional large on site supermarket on the Main Avenue of the showground in Showfield A. A smaller grocery store will be sited near the showground Administration Area in Showfield B.
