Brief Details

St. Agatha's is the Parish Church of the village of Llanymynech whose main street on its western side lies in the county of Powys in Wales and on its eastern side lies in the county of Shropshire in England. St Agatha's Church is just inside the eastern side of the village so is situated in Shropshire, England  (although its parish encompasses the whole village on both sides of the border!).The Church is in the Anglican Diocese of Lichfield.

St. Agatha's is a fine and historic, Grade II Listed building: its present building dates from 1843 but a church has been situated on its site for centuries. It is set in a Conservation Area. The church has a very interesting history; in 1915 in common with other churches on the Welsh-English border the parishioners held a vote on whether St. Agatha's would remain as part of the Church of Wales or affiliated to the Church of England - the vote was for the latter so St. Agatha's became part of the Anglican Diocese of Lichfield.
