Accessibility

There is a small parking area at the church gate with a dirt surface. There is a kissing gate and a wide double gate. The path to the church is wide with a hard gravel surface. The main entrance doorway has tiled level access. The side entrance has small stone lips and a timber ledge. The side chancel door is normally kept open – for better wheelchair access phone the Church Warden who will unlock the main door. Many of the floor surfaces within the church are uneven tiles and brickwork.


Brief Description

St Augustine church contains several medieval monuments and stone effigies. There is evidence of other monuments that have disappeared due to damage and disrepair. History and surviving artefacts suggest that the church was a mausoleum of considerable importance in the 15th century.
