Brief description

"St Bartholomew's Church is a Grade I listed building dating from the early 1100s and further restoration carried out in the 13th century.

The stone round tub Font, Chancel Arch, the alabaster Reredos, East Window, South Nave, octagonal Font, church pews, and the Spencer Memorial Chapel date from the 12th - 18th centuries.

The southwest Tower dates from 1611 and the wooden screen in front of the entrance was made in 1854 from Jacobean wood panels (1603-1625).

The Spencer Memorial Chapel dates from 1611 and is perpendicular in style.  The Spencer Monument, designed by Jasper Holleman for Sir William Spencer dates from 1609, displaying the Spencer griffin and family crest with figures of the Spencer children. Spencer Baronets - Wikipedia

The second Spencer Monument designed by John Nash for Sir Thomas Spencer dates from 1684. It displays figures of Thomas, his wife, sons, and daughters.

A 17th-century carved wooden screen with obelisks, fluted columns, and bosses separates the Spencer Memorial Chapel from the Nave.

There are fine examples of stained-glass windows and armorials throughout the church dating from the 14th century, some containing Flemish glass."

A 14th-century Cross shaft and base can be seen within the church grounds.
