Accessibility:

There is a gated entrance way with concrete pathway to the church on a slight uphill slope. To the left of the gates there is an access ramp with guide rails. The church has  accessible car parking. There are some small stone steps into the doorway, and an alternate entrance which is signposted if required, for wheelchair users it is wider and is easily accessible. The church floor is laid to flag stone, there are 2 steps to the alter area. Accessible toilets on site, hearing induction loop, large print hymn books, assistance dogs are welcome.


Brief Description:

The only church other than Westminster Abbey to hold the relics of a saint, St Candida & Holy Cross has been a place of worship since the reign of William the Conqueror. It was extended in 1190, and five bells were hung in the 20th century. Three more were added in the 20th century.

Directions:

Situated 5.4 miles from Bridport. Head W on B3162, passing through two roundabouts staying on B3162. Turn right onto A35 (West Road), continuing until you reach Tizards Knap. Turn right here following on to Goodens Hill, then turning right onto Lower St. The church entrance will be on your right. OS SY 396954 .
