Accessibility:

There are toilets, including disability facilities on site and there are plenty of parking bays. The abbey is on a slope, making wheelchair access a little awkward, and does have some steps in places.

Brief Description:

These are the ruins of a Cistercian Abbey which was founded in 1115. The north door has very well-preserved mouldings of a ball-flower decoration. At the site entrance there is also a community visitors centre.

Directions:

St Dogmaels Abbey is approx. 1 mile south-west of Cardigan, via the A487 and then the B4546. Turn left onto Longdown St, then onto David St and left onto Shingrig, where the abbey will be on the right. OS SN 163 458

Transport:

There is a regular bus service from around Fishguard, and Cardigan.

There is a huge variety of cafes, pubs and B&B’s in the St Dogmael’s and Cardigan area. There are also a few hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs in and around St Dogmaels. There is a holiday park and a camp site at Poppit and a touring caravan site at Cemaes Head. There are plenty of self-catering cottages in nearby villages.
