Brief description:

Founded around 500 AD by the Welsh monk St Illtud.

The west church was originally built by the Normans around 1100 and was extended into the East Church, built in the 13th century as the place of worship for the monks of the medieval monastery. The ruin at the west end of the church is a Galilee chapel.
