Brief description
"St James the Great Church," is a Grade I listed building dating from the early 12th century.
The Chancel Arch dates from this period and was later restored in the late 1800s. The Rood Screen dates from the 15th century with parts added during the Victorian period (1837-1901).
The West Tower, Nave, and North Aisle date from the 15th century.
There are fine examples of wall paintings within the Nave and on the Chancel Arch dating from the 14th-15th century showing biblical scenes, saints, and the Virgin Mary.
Throughout the church interior, a selection of stained-glass windows and armorials can be seen, with some glass dating from the early 15th century.
