Historical records date the church as early as 1150. The church was extensively rebuilt in the 15th century and later restored by the Victorians. The church still offers regular services to the local community.

Take the B3212 Dunsford Road out of the west side of Exeter. Follow the road onto Pocombe Hill, followed by Bakers Hill and then Longdown Road. Turn north into Chapel Hill. Turn west into the lane sign posted for Holcombe Burnell Church. Continue along the lane and the church will be visible on the north side.
