Brief description

"St Mary the Virgin Church is a Grade I listed building dating from the 1150s (12th century). The Nave and Chancel, Transeptal Chapel and Vestry were added during restoration work in c.1210.

The West Door arch dates from the 12th century and has fine examples of stonework carvings of doves, chevrons, and cable moulding around the door arch.

Above the chancel arch and surrounding nave walls, there are fine examples of 14th-century wall paintings, including a Flemish Triptych.

The stained-glass roundel windows illustrate the Annunciation and Coronation of The Virgin, date from the 13th century.
