Brief description
"St Mary the Virgin Church in Podington, Bedfordshire, is a Grade I listed building renowned for its rich history and architectural beauty. Parts of the church date back to the Norman period, with the nave showing remains from the 12th century or earlier. The aisles and much of the church were constructed in the 13th century, along with the lower parts of the tower. The church underwent significant enhancements in the 15th century, including the heightening of the chancel and aisles, and the addition of the clerestory. The tower and broach spire were built in the late 14th or early 15th century.Extensive restoration work was carried out in the 19th century due to concerns about the tower's stability."
