There is a parking area by the church gates and the path to the church entrance is wide with a gravel surface. The church has a portable ramp for the entrance steps: The ramp can be set up in advance if you phone the Church Warden to arrange a visit, or will take a few minutes to set up when arriving.
Brief Description
St Mary's Church stands on a hill above the village of Lidgate and can be seen from miles around. It is built on the site of an old Motte and Bailey castle with some parts of the ancient walls and moat still visible. Both the exterior and interior of the church display features from various periods from the 13th to the 20th century.

Take the A14 to Newmarket and turn off to Newmarket on the B1063. Follow the B1063 through Newmarket and follow signs to Lidgate. As you enter the village, take the first lane on your left, and the church can be found at the top of this lane.
