Accessibility:
The church sits just off of the roadside, with a gated entrance way directly via the pavement. Through the gateway the path becomes gravel covered. The lights within the church are set on a sensor, so will automatically turn on when you enter, and will turn off on their own once you have left the building. There is a small step just before the main door and archway. A sign on the front door will inform you that the door is very stiff and will need the use of both hands to close. Inside of the church there is 3 stone steps with a guide rail down into the church. The flooring inside the church is flag stone with a run of carpet along the aisles. There are 6 steps up to the altar area. Outside of the church the pathway does have some steps leading to the grave yard. No toilets at this church.
Brief Description:
Designed and constructed in 1842 by Sarah Losh. St Mary's church has a semicircular apse and a rectangular nave. This church is a grade II* listed building.

Directions:
Situated 5.4 miles SE of Carlisle via Botchergate Road, turning right onto St Nicholas Bridge, and Blackwell Road. At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Boundary Road, this then becomes Upperby Road and will lead onto Brisco Road. Keep following Brisco Road to High Wreay, where the church will be located on your right hand side, before reaching the Plough Inn. OS NY 435489
