 Accessibility:

There is on-street parking outside the main entrance to the church yard with a straight, flat, metalled path leading straight to the main entrance door. The entrance itself is quarry tiled and level with no steps or obstacles. The grounds are generally flat and well paved with just a couple of avoidable steps.

 

Brief Description:

The church of St Nicholas and St John was originally the church for St Nicholas' (Benedictine) Priory / Monkton Priory until the Dissolution, after which it became the parish church for the area.

Originally founded in 1098 by Arnulf of Montgomery, earl of Pembroke, who granted the chapel in his castle with land to the abbey of St Martin of Séez to establish an alien priory.

The building has a Norman, (12th century) nave, a 14th century choir or chancel and 16th and 17th century monuments.

Directions:

The church is to the south of Pembroke Castle. From the B4319 heading towards the castle take a left onto Bridgend Terrace / B4320. Follow this around a tight right hand bend and in 70 metres the church entrance will be on your right. Parking is available down Church Terrace in front of the church yard entrance.
