Accessibility

There is a small free car park in Summercove village with lots of parking including disability spaces outside nearby Charles Fort [Admission Charge]. There are toilets with disabliity access in Charles Fort. The road which runs through Summercove is very narrow and 2 vehicles cannot pass. Those wishing to visit only the fort should take the route from the main road which bypasses the village.


Brief description

Summercove has a well known bar/restaurant called the Bulman but otherwise is a residential village with a ramp for launching small boats. The real attraction is Charles Fort [Admission Charge] at the top of the hill on the southern edge of the village. It is a restored 17th century fortress which guarded the entrance of Kinsale harbour and faces westwards to Castlepark peninsula.
