Brief Description

The market town of Tavistock was once a stannery and lies on the river Tavy, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Sir Francis Drake was born nearby and a statue of him can be seen in the town centre. Tavistock has World Heritage status.

Directions

Follow M5 towards Exeter, then A30 towards Okehampton. From Okehampton, follow A386 to Tavistock.


Transport

Buses run from all surrounding villages to Tavistock, and also from Exeter, Torquay and Truro.
