Accessibility:

The venue is reached by car via a narrow and, at times, steep road. At the house, there are a few parking spaces – one area is marked out for three disability spaces. The ground floor of the round house is accessible via a ramp, but the first floor is accessed up a staircase. The naval temple is fully-accessible to everyone. Part of the grounds directly around the round house are accessible, with hard, gravel paths, but other pathways are rough and uneven. There is a toilet at the venue, but it is located on the first floor of the round house, so isn’t accessible for wheelchairs.

Brief Description:

The Kymin is a late 18th century, grade II listed round house and naval temple set in nine acres of grounds overlooking Monmouth and the beautiful Wye Valley. Once part of the enormous Monmouthshire estate of the Duke of Beaufort, the Kymin was originally a popular picnic site. Today you can still enjoy a picnic at the same spot and visit the round house, to see how the Georgians relaxed, and the naval temple, which was built to commemorate 16 of Britain’s most famous admirals and their naval victories in the Seven Years War and the war against revolutionary France.
