Entrances:   There is step free access to our temporary entrance off Oxford Road.

  • A lift (to the left as you enter our reception space) is available and provides step-free access to all floors.
  • Wheelchairs are available upon request.
  • Adequate seating is located throughout, portable stools are also available.
  • Guide, Hearing and Support dogs are welcome.
  • Accessible toilet facilities are located throughout.
  • Large print is available in our temporary exhibitions.
  • Changing Places

The nearest Changing Places facilities are located at Manchester Aquatics Centre and Manchester Royal Infirmary.

"Manchester Museum is a walk, bike ride or bus journey from Manchester city centre, close to the Whitworth and the University of Manchester campus of which we are proud to be a part.  Walk: 30min from Manchester city centre. Flat paved route.

Bike: Secure bicycle parking can be found close to the Museum, on Coupland Street and on Oxford Road

Parking: Higher Chatham St (UoM Car Park D)  Opening hours: 06am – midnight, 7 days per week. Sat Nav for Parking: M15 6AR

Public parking tariffs 2021 (payable by cash, debit or credit card). £2.00 up to 1 hour. £7.00 up to 5 hours, £8.00 up to 6 hours, £9.00 up to 8hours. £15 all day. £4.50 evening 18:00 - 23:59*  *Please note that if you stay after midnight then the £10 overnight charge will apply (except on Saturdays)"
