"The museum is located on a secure military site. You will be met on arrival at the camp gate and guided to the museum.

Whilst there is no designated disabled parking, there is plenty of parking available close to the museum building with space around your vehicle.
There are two steps up to the museum entrance. There is also a wheelchair ramp on the side of the building. This is not suitable for large powered wheelchairs.
The museum is arranged over a single floor so there are no internal stairs to negotiate.
There is seating provided in every gallery and fold out stools can be provided for visitors to use.
The museum has a portable hearing induction loop system. Please let staff know if you would like to use it at any point during your visit.

"You can access the camp gate from a turn off on the A600. There is no entry via Ampthill Road.
You can use the post code SG17 5QB for the Rowney Warren forest in your Sat Nav to get you to the correct side. Follow the road ahead, through the forest, and you will reach the camp gate."
Opening Times

"The museum will be closed from 29th November 2025 and will reopen on 3rd March 2026. Visits are by appointment only, between 10am and 4pm, Tuesday to Friday."
Transport
"Take the 9A or 9B bus (Hitchin-Bedford). Get off at the Chicksands Turn bus stop. You will then have a short walk down to the entrance of the camp.
Bedford station and Hitchin station are the closest railway links with taxi ranks. It is then approximately a 20 minute drive to the museum."
