Brief description

Update 2023: https://www.bartshealth.nhs.uk/rlhmuseum : "The former Royal London Hospital Museum display space in Whitechapel is now closed. The decision was taken not to reopen the space after an extensive review of several longstanding issues with the basement museum space, which is not owned by Bart Health NHS Trust, and discussion with key stakeholders. The space will be reintegrated with the library which occupies the rest of the former church building, to provide new study areas for medical and dental students."

Former description of its collection: "The London Hospital, founded in 1740, now The Royal London Hospital is one of London's largest hospitals.
The museum charts the hospital's history and it's part in medical development since the 18th century. There are exhibits from all areas of medicine, including surgery, dentistry, nursing and forensic science, along with information on key figures associated with the hospital.

Other exhibits include a replica skeleton of Joseph Merrick (the Elephant Man), original material on 'Jack the Ripper', Dr Crippen and the Christie murders."

The London Congestion Charge Zone ( https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge/congestion-charge-zone) runs from Monday to Friday and motorists have ample signage to alert them to the entry points; only vehicles that are registered by the DVLA as ‘Disabled Tax-Exempt’ are NOT liable to the Charge. Disabled Tax-Exempt drivers can also use the Dartford Crossing without charge, which is a river crossing to the east of London which links the north and south of the M25 orbital motorway.  Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) automatically identifies the registration number plate of these vehicles so that their owners do not need to take any additional action.
The museum is in the Congestion Charge Zone. If travelling by car, for specific directions it is best to use a satnav, but please be aware that the route may take you in and out of the Central London Congestion Charge zone. It is best to approach Central London using the excellent public transport.
