Accessibility:

This church is situated in a field, with a gated entrance leading along a track to the church itself. There is also a stile that can be used to access a footpath signposted for the church; this route is not suitable for those in wheelchairs. There is a toilet on site, but it does not have disability facilities. There is a small area to park onto next to the gate on the roadside.

Brief Description:

St Mary's church is a single chambered building that is built over a barrow and found in an isolated location; it is renowned for being the only entirely timber framed church in Wales. Its 15th century wooden frame still stands, however, it is now surrounded by 19th century timber and brick work.

The church is currently not open daily to the public, however you can arrange to visit the church and see its interior by contacting church warden, Chris Jerman on 01938 553301 after 4pm or Roger Lewis on 0777 9140275.

Situated 4 miles from Welshpool via the B4381, then right onto the B4388, taking the first left after Leighton Primary school, onto an unnamed road. Then another left following this lane until you reach the white church notice board on your left. OS SJ 263039
