Brief description
Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo is situated within Jubilee Park, Symonds Yat (home to the Wye Valley Visitor Centre and a number of other popular visitor attractions for which combined entry tickets may be available, some at discounted prices- see website for further details).
The Butterfly Zoo is a past winner of the 'Best Midlands Small Visitor Attraction' tourism award and is recognised by the 'Butterfly Conservation Society' for its conservation work with rare and endangered butterflies.

Situated off the A40 between Ross-on-Wye and Hereford. Exit the A40 at Whitchurch. Turn south onto the B4164 towards Symonds Yat West for 100 yards/ 92 metres approximately. At the roundabout take the B4164 south towards Symonds Yat West. Follow directional signage for Wye Valley Visitor Centre - car park is located in 150 yards/ 137metres approximately, on the left.
Opening Times
Open daily from 10 a.m. excluding Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Closing Time/last time of entry - seasonal variations - the following information taken from venue website current at August 2021 : 'Last entries at 4 pm through the winter half-term holidays and through March and October, 5 pm from Easter to September, 3 pm in deep winter.'

By Rail: Nearest railway stations: Hereford ( 17 miles/ 27.3 kms); Gloucester (24,4 miles/ 39.27 kms); Newport (28.3 miles/ 45.5 kms). Complete journey to Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo and Wye Valley Visitor Centre by taxi or by bus.
Hereford Station - accessibility and facilities: Step free access through the ticket hall to Platform 3 and 4. A footbridge lifts connects Platforms 1 and 2. Take care on all platforms whilst using a wheelchair or a pushchair as platforms are on gentle ramps and wheelchair /pushchair brakes should be applied for safety when statiionery. Cafe. The toilets are located on Platform 3. The National key toilets are located on Platform 3; these toilets are operated by a radar key. The National key toilets are only available during Ticket Office opening hours.
Gloucester Station - accessibility and facilities: Step Free Category A station - step free access available to all platforms with lift-bridge to link platforms. Refreshment facilities. Toilets including National key toilets.
Newport, Wales: Step free access is available to all platforms via lifts. The toilets are located on Platform 1, Platform 2 and Platform 4. The National key toilets are located on Platform 2; these toilets are operated by a radar key. Refreshment facilities.

- From Hereford - take bus service no. 33 to Ross-on-Wye (Cantilupe Road), then bus service no. 34 to Whitchurch - Alight at Whitchurch, Roundabout. From the bus stop, walk south along the B4164 towards Symonds Yat West for 150 yards/ 137 metres approximately, follow directional signage and take left turning into the Wye Valley Visitor Centre.
- From, Gloucester - take bus service no. 32 or 33 to Ross-on-Wye (Cantilupe Road), then bus service no. 34 to Whitchurch - Alight at Whitchurch, Roundabout. From the bus stop, walk south along the B4164 towards Symonds Yat West for 150 yards/ 137 metres approximately, follow directional signage and take left turning into the Wye Valley Visitor Centre.
Amenities
- 'Pay and display' visitors' car park (84 parking spaces, with 11 designated 'family with child' and 4 disabled parking spaces).
- Refreshments: Izzys Cafe - situated next to the Butterfly Zoo and adjacent to the Wye Valley Visitor Centre. The Cafe is fully licenced and serves refreshments including: tea, coffee, snacks, light lunches, ice creams. The Cafe has one, low step at entrance/exit with ramp available.
- Indoor picnic area with vending facilities, adjacent to the Wye Valley Visitor Centre in which visitors can eat their own picnic food. External ramp access available.
- Two outdoor picnic areas - located nearby in the Jubilee Park.
- Gift Shop - located in Butterfly Zoo Reception area.
- Well-behaved dogs on a lead are permitted only in Jubilee Park, the Wye Valley Visitor Centre, shops, outdoor picnic areas and Picnic Refuge on site. No Dogs (including Assistance Dogs) are permitted in the Butterfly Zoo, Izzy's Cafe or other Attractions on the Park.
