Accessibility

"Our Centre is fully accessible for all visitors being all over one floor and has all exhibits accessible from wheelchairs.  Xplore! Science Discovery Centre Access Statement Summary:

Xplore! has level access using both main entrance doors.

We have a hearing loop around our entrance and reception areas.

Our café and science shop are open to members of the public as well as Xplore! Visitors

The exhibition area, here at Xplore!, has exhibits of varying heights and actions, please ask a member of staff if you need any assistance. We also have a low light area, theatre and two workshop rooms.

We have a wheelchair and buggy park, visitor lockers and a picnic area for our visitors to use.

We have male and female toilets as well as two gender neutral disabled access toilets and baby changing.

We welcome assistance dogs

Xplore! Recognises the sunflower lanyard scheme and many of our staff have received dementia friends training from Alzheimer's Society."

"Our toilets are situated towards the back of the exhibition area. We have several cubicles available in both the ladies and gents toilets. We also have a baby changing facility, disabled toilet and we are in the process of completing a fully accessible changing facility with a ceiling hoist and changing bench. Our toilets are for the use of Xplore! customers only, there are public toilets located at Ty Pawb and on Henblas Street. There are also unisex toilets in the reception area available for use by Xplore! café customers who are not visiting the centre." Under 3s and Registered Carers: free entry.

It is currently based between Henblas Street and Chester Street in Wrexham city centre.[1][2][3] Formerly known as Techniquest@NEWI and Techniquest Glyndŵr, as a sister venue to Cardiff's Techniquest, it was housed on Wrexham Glyndŵr University's Plas Coch campus from 2003 until its relocation in 2020. The centre is operated by North Wales Science, a charity wholly owned by Wrexham Glyndŵr University."

"Xplore! is located in the heart of Wrexham, close to other town centre attractions, shops and cafés/restaurants. Our address is Xplore, 17 Henblas Street, Wrexham, LL13 8AE. You can access our building from Chester Street and Henblas Street. From Chester, M53, M56 and North Wales coast, take the A55 to the A483 junction (signposted Wrexham).

Travel south on the A483 and come off at junction 6, taking the third exit (A5152) into Wrexham town centre (Chester Street).

​From Oswestry, Midlands and Mid Wales take the A483 north towards Wrexham. Follow the brown tourism information signs from Junction 5 (A541) into the town centre.

​Car parks are located within a short walk of our centre. The closest are the Wrexham Council car parks at Ty Pawb (LL13 8BY), Waterworld (LL13 8BG) and the Library (LL11 1WS)."

"We have a wheelchair and buggy park, Baby Changing Facilities, visitor lockers and a picnic area for our visitors to use.

Our café is open to Xplore! visitors and members of the public. Our café has self-service drinks, food and snacks and we do ask that visitors place any litter or recycling, etc. in the bins provided but our staff are on hand if assistance is required. The café is made up of tables and chairs which can be moved if additional access is required. Our café can be accessed from the reception area and the shop. Our shop sells a wide variety of STEM themed gifts, toys, kits and more. Due to the varied nature of this, our stock is displayed at different heights throughout the shop area. There is a clear path around the whole shop area allowing access to all stock and the café. Our staff are on hand if assistance is required.
