Accessibility

https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/AML/details.html The station is served by the Elizabeth line, and managed by Transport for London. The station was rebuilt with step-free access as part of the Crossrail project

There is no parking available at the Depot, except for disabled badge holders.

"The Museum Depot is fully accessible to wheelchair users, however due to the nature of the collection not all vehicles are accessible.

Inside the Depot there are ramps and wheelchair platforms to some areas. Unfortunately, due to essential repair works, the lift to the first floor is currently out of order (March 2023).

Whilst we take every care to eliminate all possible trip hazards, there are rail tracks and grooves set in the floor which may not be suitable for those with a visual impairment or general mobility concerns.

Only service animals are permitted inside the Depot building.

Accessible toilet facilities are available on the ground floor.

Parking spaces at the Museum Depot are limited. During open weekends, parking is only available to blue badge holders, on a first come first served basis."

Brief description

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acton_Main_Line_railway_station

"Acton Main Line is a railway station on the Great Western Main Line in Acton, west London. Located 4 miles 21 chains (6.9 km) down the line from London Paddington between Paddington and Ealing Broadway stations. The station is served by the Elizabeth line, and managed by Transport for London. The station was rebuilt with step-free access as part of the Crossrail project. It is Travelcard Zone 3."

"The Museum Depot in Acton is our working museum store - a treasure trove of over 320,000 objects. The Museum Depot at Acton holds the majority of the Museum’s collections which are not on display in the main Museum in Covent Garden.

Three times a year, we throw open the doors and welcome thousands of visitors to explore. Discover rare road and rail vehicles spanning over 100 years, signs, ceramic tiles, original posters, ephemera, ticket machines, and more.

Our Depot Open days take place three times a year, typically in April, July and September. With talks, activities, tours and fun for all the family, these festival-style events are an exciting opportunity to celebrate, learn, and enjoy one of the most comprehensive collections of urban transport anywhere in the world.

When our Depot first opened on its rail-connected site on 14 October 1999, it was the first museum store in the UK to be specifically designed with regular public access in mind - part warehouse, part rail depot, part workshop, part education space!

The Depot is also home to the London Transport Miniature Railway, a working miniature railway based on real London Underground locomotives, carriages, signals and signs run by our volunteers."
