There is a designated disabled car park and ramp access into the heritage centre. There is a disability toilet which is wheelchair accessible and includes a baby changing unit the centre also has a wheelchair accessible lift to access the upper floor. Visitors with limited physical mobility are able to access all areas of the centre, and the audio-visual media is accompanied by hearing loops and subtitles
Brief description
Blaenavon World heritage centre is based in the Blaenavaon World Heritage Site alongside the Blaenavon Ironworks and the Big Pit National Coal Museum. The heritage centre offers educational courses for both adults and children and hosts interactive displays with touchscreens for easily accessible information. The centre also houses Blaenavon library on the upper floor.
The centre is a great base to explore the surrounding landscapes, many of which have historical interest and interesting walks.

Directions
Travelling from Birmingham
Travelling from Birmingham and the north of Britain take the M5 South. Leave at Junction 8 and continue on the M50 to Ross on Wye. Take the A40 to Abergavenny. At the roundabout take the second exit onto the A465. Leave the A465 at the first exit and follow the signs to Blaenavon and Big Pit. This route is unsuitable for large vehicles and coaches, so these vehicles should continue on A465 to Brynmawr and pick up the signs to Blaenavon and Big Pit from there (B4248).
Travelling from London
Travelling from London and the south west of England take the M4 West and leave at Junction 25A (Newport). Take the A4042 as far as Pontypool. At the (McDonalds) roundabout take the first exit and follow the A4043 to Blaenavon, following the Big Pit signs

Transport
X24 Stagecoach bus service, which connects Blaenavon, Abersychan, Pontypool, Cwmbran and Newport. Weekdays, the buses generally depart at 10 minute intervals.
Hourly services, Stagecoach 30 also run from Brynmawr to Newport, via Blaenavon and calling at Big Pit: National Coal Museum.
The nearest railway stations to Blaenavon are located in Abergavenny, New Inn, Cwmbran and Newport.
