Accessibility:

Access path for wheelchair users, however access limited to ground floor only at both the Castle and Mill. Wheelchairs available on site free of charge.

Dogs must be kept on a short lead.

Designated disability parking available at both sites; the mill is at the end of a no-through road running West from the main car park. Free parking available on site, on the western side of the A4075, 1/3 mile from the Mill and Castle. "There are three disabled parking spaces in the main Castle car park and limited disabled parking only at the Mill."

"There is wheelchair access to the ground floor of the Castle and Mill, both shops and Nest Tearoom. The mile-long walk is also wheelchair friendly.

There are two disabled toilets situated at the Castle Visitor Centre and Mill Lane (opened with RADA key, please ask in the Mill for this). A mobility scooter is available for hire on request from the Castle Visitor Centre.

Carew Castle and Tidal Mill offers visitors with disabilities 25% off standard day admission prices.

Wheelchair users receive free entry.

One accompanying carer will receive free entry.

Brief Description:

An impressive Norman castle with Tudor and Elizabethan modifications, and fully restored Tidal Mill dating back to the 16th Century. "Carew Tidal Mill is the only restored tidal Mill in Wales and one of just five in the UK."

The castle is located off the A477 on the western side of the A4075, 6.4miles west of Tenby on the B4318/A477 and 4.2miles East of Pembroke on the A477. OS SN 046 037.

"NEST TEAROOM IS CLOSED UNTIL 2021

The tearoom is named after Princess Nest, one of the Castle’s most famous residents, famed for being the most beautiful woman in Wales.

Nest is a cosy, bright and modern tearoom located in the Walled Garden near the Castle entrance. It is a simple wooden-framed building, with seating inside and out."

Toilets are located at the Castle reception and opposite the Castle car park, both with RADAR key toilet.

There is a picnic site situated on the north side of the Millpond with spectacular views of the Castle.

DOG FRIENDLY

Well-behaved dogs are welcome everywhere on site with the exception of inside Nest Tearoom; please keep them on a short lead.
