Accessibility:
There is paid parking along the roads surrounding the cathedral (Place Sainte-Gudule and Rue du Bois Sauvage), with specific disability spaces. There are steps to the front entrance, but also a ramp running along both sides of the front entrance for wheelchairs. There are no toilets at the cathedral itself, but there are some, including disability facilities, at Brussel-Centraal train station, a five-minute walk away.
Brief Description:
The Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula was given cathedral status in 1962; a place of worship has been present on the site since the 8th or 9th century. The cathedral was built in a Gothic "Brabançon" style and it houses works of art from the 16th and 17th centuries.
