Brief description

Cowton Castle is a Grade I listed building and "late 15th century pele tower in good condition and still occupied". It was built by Sir Richard Conyers in 1470.

Directions

From Darlington, take the A167 to Northallerton and turn right into the B1267 for about 2 miles. Turn off at Atley Hill to Pepper Arden and take the first left turn, a crossroads/farm track. The castle is at the end of the road.
