Accessibility:

There is a bus route that runs through Swiss Valley although visitors would need to walk the remaining 0.7 miles from the main road to the reservoir. There is a free car park area. There are no disability parking bays available and the ground is not maintained so is uneven and can be extremely muddy in places depending on the weather conditions. The reservoir is accessed via a woodland pathway, the ground again is left in a natural state, there are numerous kissing gates to go through and some concrete footbridges that pass over streams surrounding the reservoir. For these reasons, this 2 mile walk surrounding the reservoir is unsuitable for wheelchair users. There are no toilet facilities onsite.

Brief Description:

Cwm Lliedi Reservoirs are located in Swiss Valley, just North of Llanelli. The lower reservoir was the first to be constructed in 1878 in order to provide water to the town of Llanelli, the second upper reservoir was then later added in 1905 to meet the growing needs of the town. These days the two reservoirs are a popular destination for dog-walkers, ramblers and wildlife enthusiasts. There is a 2 mile woodland walk surrounding the reservoirs so there are plenty of birds and wildlife to see. The Carmarthenshire cycle path also runs next to the reservoir, the route can be found here: www.discovercarmarthenshire.com/active/active_images/swiss-valley-route.pdf.
