Accessibility:
Abbey ruins situated immediately next to the parking area. Access is via a gateway which has a gravel slopping (left) uneven pathway through a hedgerow archway. Grass areas within the abbey grounds and ruins are uneven. Wheelchair access is possible with care. There are no paved walkways.
Brief description:
Grade I listed Ruins of Cymer Abbey located near Llanelltyd, was founded in 1198 by Mareddudd ap Cynan and occupied by the Cistercian order of monks. Built during the Norman period, the ruins of the abbey, nave, chancel, west tower, arches and foundations of outbuildings can be seen. CADW managed site.
