Brief Description:

Crowle is a small town on the Isle of Axholme in North Lincolnshire. There is evidence of Neolithic settlers in Crowle due to the finding of stone axes and arrowheads. In 1747 bronze rapiers and spearheads were also found on Crowle Moor. They hold Heritage Open Days details of which can be found on the website http://crowle.org/.

Directions:

From Doncaster via A18 (18.4m). Head north-east on Prince’s Street. Continue on Thorne Road. Drive from A630, M18 and A1 to North Lincolnshrie for 18.1 miles. Turn left into Crowle.


From Scunthorpe via A18 (9.7m). Take Cliff Gardens to Doncaster Road. Take A18 to New Trent Street for 7.7 miles. Turn left onto Doncaster Road. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Doncaster Road/A18. Go through one roundabout. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on Doncaster Road/A18 for 5.7 miles. Slight right onto A161. Turn right at the 1st cross street onto A161/A18. Turn left onto A161. Take Wharf Road to A161. Turn left onto A161. Turn left into Crowle.
