Brief Description:

This new bar in York was formerly St John’s Church, a Grade II Listed Building built in the 12th Century with modifications in the 14th and 15th Century. It underwent restoration in 1850. The church closed in 1934 and then became the York Arts Centre. In 2005 it became a bar and then in 2017 it opened as Jalou Bar, which includes a DJ and cocktail masterclasses. Most of the ancient stonework is still in place including the tomb of deceased knight Sir Richard Yorke.
