In 1984 the church closed and it was opened as The Spurriergate Centre 5 years later, although a small chapel was kept upstairs which is still used sometimes. The centre now has a café which serves hot and cold food and refreshments, and also contains a Fair Trade Shop. There is also an on-site counselling service.
