Brief Description:

St John the Evangelist Church was built in the mid 19th Century and restored in 1948. It is home to a rare stained glass window depicting the career of local parishioner 21 year old Lieutenant Ernest Conway Lansdale, who’s aircraft was shot down behind enemy lines in September 1916 and later died in December 1916 as a prisoner of war. Its spire is visibile through most of Goole.
