Brief Description:

St Michael’s church is a Grade I Listed Building which was built 1320-1350, however this is the third church to stand on this site. The first was mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086, the second was built in 1190. Points of interest in the church are the tomb of John Neville, Last Baron Latimer of Snape. He was the stepson of Katherine Parr who went on to marry King Henry VIII. The tomb has graffiti on it dating back to 1618, and above the tomb are 15th Century stained glass windows which represent the three leaders of the English forces that defeated the Scots at the battle of Neville's Cross in 1346. Also of interest is the font with decorative panels which was originally from the 14th Century but restored in the 19th Century.
