2025: "Sunday 8th June – Lady Garden Foundation (Tickets can be purchased here)

Fonthill house gardens are set in the idyllic rolling countryside of South Wiltshire

Surrounding the house are the formal gardens with mixed planting of shrubs, herbaceous perennials, bulbs and annuals. There is a small selection of old and new sculptures including a water feature by William Pye. There is also an ornamental kitchen garden that not only supplies the house but also the shoot lunches throughout the season with a large selection of fruit and vegetables.

North of the house are the woodland walks with azaleas, magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons, sweet chestnuts and tall majestic oaks, and an oak house made from young saplings.

South of the house is the park, or Deer Park, to give it its correct title, which is generally grazed by sheep today. Beyond the park is Fonthill lake, teeming with wildlife at all times of the year.

The gardens are a haven for the 3rd Lord Margadale of Islay and his family. With the help of his head gardener, Jack Greenwood, his assistant gardeners, and his team of 2 designers, Tania Compton and Marie-Louise Agius, the aim is to build on the legacy left by previous generations of the Morrison family."
