Accessibility:

The car park is on the roadside with level access to the front entrance to the site. The site itself has a narrow pedestrian door with a 4" ledge at the threshold. This is cut into a larger double carriage door. (It is not clear if the larger door can be opened to make wheelchair access possible.)  The lower floors of the house are laid to flagstones and carpet and are level with a very small lip at the main entrance door threshold. The upper floors are accessed by stairs and there is one flight of spiral stairs as well. There is a spacious toilet with a grab rail. The garden paths are largely gravel.

Brief Description:

Gwydir Castle is a Tudor mansion set in the Conwy Valley in the village of Llanrwst.  It was once the home of the Wynn family but after falling into dereliction by the 1990s the house and garden started a 20+ year restoration and is still undergoing restoration works even today.

The gardens are equally important and have been awarded a Grade I listing as an important example of formal Renaissance gardens of the Tudor and Stuart periods.

There are Bed and Breakfast and self-catering accommodation available at the castle.  See its website for further information.
