Accessibility:

There is a public car park close to the castle. Information leaflets available in several languages and there is an audio guide in English. A guide leaflet is available in Braille and there are toilets with disability access on request. There is a tea room on site. Parts of the castle may not be suitable/accessible for those with limited mobility as there are a number of flights of stairs situated around the castle.

Brief Description:

Kilkenny Castle was built in 1195 by William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke. It was built to control a fording point of the River Nore and the junction of several routes.
