Accessibility:
Parking: The cathedral does not have its own car park. The nearest car park is located Q-park, Deansgste North. Blue Badge holders can park on double yellow lines, but please be aware of any applied restrictions.
Visiting: The Cathedral interior is via the South Porch which has level access. The Nave is level and The Quire can be accessed by a purpose-built ramp. The Jesus Chapel is accessible via a temporary ramp.
The Regiment Chapel and Chapter House can only be accessed by steps and are not wheelchair/pushchair friendly.
The Cathedral Visitors' Centre is located near the South Porch, it has level access and a lift.
Volunter Welcomers are available to assist with your visit, if required.
Large print documents are available and Hearing Induction loop facilities are available during hours of worship.
Assistsnce dogs are permitted to all areas. Drinking water is provided.
Photography : A £1.00 permit can be purchased which will allow photography within the cathedral interior.
Toilet facilities: There is a designated disability toilet available in the Cathedral Visitor Centre.
Public toilets and designated baby-changing facilities are also located in the Cathedral Visitor Centre.
The cathedral cafe 'Proper Tea' offers hot and cold food and drinks including its Afternoon Tea special (please see venue's website for further details).
Brief Description:
Manchester Cathedral is a Grade I Listed building, built in the Gothic style. Formally, the Cathedral and Collegiate Church of St Mary, St Denys and St George it sits in the Anglican Diocese of Manchester, England. It has been a site of worship since the early Anglo-Saxon times, 700AD, and is also mentioned in King William the Conqueror's 'Doomsday Book' of 1086.
