Accessibility:

The Hall is accessible by road and parking spaces available by the entrance in Church Square. There are no disability parking bays. Generally paths around the gardens and pool are flat although slopes and steep steps are a feature in places. There is a public toilet. Guide dogs are allowed in the gardens.

 

Brief description:

The Hall overlooks its extensive gardens with a notable feature being the 18th-century wrought iron arbour known as ‘The Birdcage’ .

Directions:

Melbourne Hall & Gardens in Melbourne is 8.47 miles/13.63 kilometres east of Burton-on-Trent , 9.54 miles/15.35 kilometres west of Loughborough and 6.61 miles/10.64 kilometres south of Derby. From junction 3 on the A50 ‘Derby Southern Bypass’ take the exit south onto Swarkestone Road. At the junction in Swarkestone turn south along the A514 ‘Swarkestone bridge’. At the fork junction continue south along the B587. At the next junction turn east on the B587 and immediately south into Derby Road towards Melbourne. In the centre of Melbourne turn south east into Church Street and south into Church Square. The hall entrance will become visible at the end of the square.

The Gardens are open on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays during the months of April to September inclusive. Visiting times: open at 1:30 and close at 5:30pm. The Garden opening days are extended during August and will be open on the days that the Hall is open
