Accessible parking
There are three blue badge parking spaces in the car park on the left hand side of the road leading into the Royal Albert Dock, opposite the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Building. These are about 150 yards from the main entrance to the museum. The route from this car park to the museum entrance is paved, and involves crossing one road at a pedestrian crossing. Another four designated blue badge spaces are available in the on-street parking on the approach road, which are slightly further away from the museum building. Charges apply for parking in both these areas.

Three wheelchairs are available to borrow. Please ask at the information desk when you arrive.
Deaf and hearing impaired visitors
Most videos and interactives throughout the Maritime Museum have subtitles or British Sign Language.
Blind and visually impaired visitors
Audio descriptions are available in most parts of the museum, except for some features of the Battle for the Atlantic gallery.
Assistance animals
We welcome trained guide, hearing and assistance animals at our museums and galleries. We wish to maintain an environment where everyone feels secure and comfortable. Furthermore, to safeguard our objects and collections we ask that your animals are appropriately trained, supervised, and kept with you at all times.
Where possible, dog owners should bring their Assistance Dogs UK (ADUK), Assistance Dogs International (ADI) or the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) identification book, and animals should wear the appropriate tabards or harnesses.
If you plan to visit with an assistance animal other than an assistance dog, please get in touch 7 days prior to your visit to discuss your request with us so we may best accommodate your visit where reasonably practicable.
Drinking bowls are available on request from the information desk.
Autism
We welcome children and adults with autism and additional needs in our museums and galleries. We have been working with Autism Together, Autism in Museums, Kids in Museums and EMBED to develop skills to make our venues more welcoming.
Every day at our museums and galleries is accessible and we also run occasional relaxed sessions for visitors with autism, learning difficulties and additional needs. You can find out more on our Autism friendly museums and galleries page.
It may help to take a look at our visual stories (welcome guides) when planning your visit. You can download the Maritime Museum visual story here, which has photos of the museum and useful information for your visit.
If you have any questions which are not answered by our website or frequently asked questions, please call or use our contact form to get in touch in advance and we will help support any additional needs as best we can."
