Accessibility:

There is a car park on Marsh Road a short walk away from the museum. The route to the museum is mostly on a minor road to the seafront so there is a gentle downhill on the way there. There is another car park, with two disability spaces, on the sea front next to the Beach Cafe. The public toilets are located next to this car park and have disability facilities and baby-changing facilities.

Brief Description:

The Museum of Speed overlooks the very beach that became famous for the world land speed records attempted and created on it. The land speed record was most famously broken by J.G. Parry-Thomas in 'Babs' in 1926. In 1927 Parry-Thomas was killed when attempting another record on the sands and the car was buried on the beach.  It was brought back to life in the early 1970s after Owen Wyn Owen got permission to excavate and restore it.

Babs is now the main attraction at the museum. It is only on display in the summer months so it is advised to call in advance to avoid disappointment.
