Brief description
"Recently conserved Row 111 House and the Old Merchant’s House were built in the early 17th century as wealthy merchants’ residences, but later sub-divided into tenements.
Visit today, and you can see how they appeared at various stages in their history. The Old Merchant’s House looks as it did in Victorian times. Adjacent Row 111 House is shown as it was in 1942 (just before it suffered a direct hit by an incendiary bomb).
Great Yarmouth Row Houses are treasure troves for anyone who loves period decoration. Look out for the wonderful collections of fixtures and fittings including painted panels, elaborate wall-ties and door-knockers.
Nearby stands Greyfriars’ Cloisters, the remains of a medieval friary. Traces of the cloister’s interior features survive, along with early 14th-century wall paintings.
You can visit Grest Yarmouth Row Houses and Greyfriars Cloisters on a guided tour on selected days."
