Accessibility

Outside the church are narrow uneven paths surrounded by lawns. A flagged stone path leads up to a slight step up into the vestibule which has a large coir mat on the floor. There are two sets of heavy wooden doors, one with a welcome notice, before accessing the main area. There is a table with leaflets etc on the right, just before the panelled glass doors leading to the main aisle.

The church is reasonably well lit in the centre but darker on the far right and far left of the central aisle behind thick stone columns when the lighting is not switched on. The aisles are uneven stone flagged which are occasionally chipped at the edges. The round stone font in the centre back has two sets of stone steps leading up to it. There are individual wooden seats rather than pews. A fire extinguisher is located at the side of the church interior. There are six steps from the aisle then three steps down to a wooden door but no handrail.  There are toilet facilities in the parish hall which is usually open during the week but not always at weekends. Please phone in advance if you are unsure.

Brief description

The church is a Grade I listed building and was first consecrated in 1914 and was built as part of the Duchy estate. It was completed in the 1930s. There are notices about the church's history displayed at the back of the church. The organ pipes are above a gold-coloured arched doorway and a statue of the Virgin Mary with baby Jesus. There are beautifully painted rood screen figures and panels on the pulpit as well. A large cross overhangs the altar area and it is worth noting the beautiful ceiling. There is a marble font with an elegantly carved dove. Painted panels adorn the church at window height. The altar table is up two steps. There are well lit chapel areas in the chancel. Some of the windows depict knights in armour.
